An update, or breaking news section

First off let me say – this is not a complaint in any way – as a relatively new member, 6-8 months or so in the hobby, and about a month here - I have learned a lot and still have a ways to go to get where I want to be. My request is this – when some, or all of us is in crisis mode – I think it would be great to have a Breaking News section – near the top – that way when some of the people in the know, - hi Grasshopper - have breaking news – or an update – or just a be patient, there would be one place to look for it. – today a buddy called and told me that he saw a post and things were looking bleak – well, that post was from a while back – someone found and added, bringing it to the top of a thread. I think it would be good to have a place to log in – look to see if any new news is here, without having to stay on and search for all the places people are asking – where the new bin – I think it could cut down on traffic in crisis times and anyone with an update etc would know where to post as well – just my 2 cents. Also it could be archived to a sticky after the crisis is over and provide new people with a kind of history of these things... – Off soap box now – eject.

look at the top of the page...it has a scrolling Marquee and the Admin updates it when anything is new..like there isn't a file or what files are out..or if there is a ecm for either bev or dn
so for now that is what ppl should look for first when they come to the forum...it has the most asked question...when there is a ecm and everyone wants to know when there is a fix or if there is a fix

yes - I know, It's the main reason I look here first - But - many times when I have been down, I as I'm sure many others come here and look around for info - Often Gresshopper and others will give a kind of progress report - what's happining - what the problem is, etc. and that info is found in different places - I was just sugjesting a place to put all of that kind of info - easy to find - may cut down of load in bad times - thanks all

My 1&1/2 cents suggestion. When it rains in the FTA world it does really rains and falls. If I know that my FTA is down or cant get the ppv, etc I just turn if off and wait for about a day or two before I even try to get in any forum or site. We know its an ecm and it will takes time to get a new bin and we know that thousands are impatience sometimes. In short I shy away for a while and really helps lessen the traffic. Thats just my worthless suggestion...LOL

It"s like going to a auto dealer looking for a pink truck. You drive all around the lot, looking at every truck. You don't see the pink truck you are looking for so you go inside and ask. I bet they are hiding that pink truck inside somewhere and want release it to go out. If you don't see it, it"s not there.

And to add to this. If the dealership puts a big sign out saying that they sell no pinks truck, they still will having people walking in asking, do they sell pink truck....

Some just dont pay attention anyway.....

I know what you are sayin bud im sure others do aswell righ now the problem is we have some people who have no PATIANCE at all and WANT WANT WANT there fix when the coders are workin away but the banner is too pretty good so far but it is a ood suggestion!

Thanks Shady, I wasn't suggesting a begging post. Sometimes Grasshopper or another mod will leave an update post, like what the prob is (over my head mostly) and it's a great thing to see. I was only suggesting a place to do it in, thought it would free up the site in crisis times. merry Christmas everyone

well I want , want, want and need , need , need or I will just dies if I can not get my movies, my PPV's and other channels Right Now and if I don't I will hold my breath till they come out with a fix...and kick and scream on the floor and then I will post nasty notes that there isn't any support for my XYZ FTA Receiver...and tell everyone that they are not good
and I Want My FREE Tv...I got to have it now...because I will never ever have a backup plan like buy a small sub...read a book...rent a movie or sit and talk to the family or learn to code...and one more thing I will never pay a VIP membership so that way when the files do get posted I will be locked out because of heavy traffic and have to wait till there is some time at 3 in the morning to get my new files...and I will complain again that I do not have help with the new files...because I will never look at the read-me's......lol

It is a great suggestion trav and the ticker tape at the top of the screen is usually up to date.. but the person who handles that.. is going thru some personal issues right now, that take them away from keeping it updated at all times right now.. so please bear with us on that issue.. Also.. GH and the rest of the staff do try to go to the FTA News section and post what is going on.. if it is a key morph, which they have not done for awhile.. which is the changing of one or 2 keys... and can be easily remedied.. by turning autroll off and putting in keys manually.. by using either a key grabber or going to a site that posts live keys.. to resolve that issue. which is what I always look for first.. before looking for it to be an ECM.. Electronic Counter Measure... to stop the signal. which means until the coders write a new fix.. there will be no PPV, Premium or International channels available.. Don't take it the wrong way.. we appreciate yours and any other members suggestions.. I have suggested and they are looking into it. to create a front page.. that you must read, before entering the site.. that says.. DN is down.. or BEV is down.. or both are down.. and that certain options have been shutdown to try and handle the load of all the members trying to access.. in hopes that reading that page, will give them all the info they need and they will not go any farther into the site.. and just be patient and check from time to time. for an update on that page.. good luck.. txsgent

thanks gent - kinda what I said too - just thought all of the crisis info in one place would help out with traffic - I have been through about 6 or 8 downtimes and was not complaining - just happy we aren't going through what bev did the past week - Merry Christmas all

This site keeps us up and running . Yes there are tough times but when we see new files out on the top of the screen. Wow what a feeling . All have lives outside of this forum, and to take the time to keep us all testing is great . Thanks to all who do what they do..
