CW4000HD Bios Installation
I now have my new MSI K9NGM3-FIH mother board and I am ready to load the CW bios.
I have read the readme file but I did not find any instructions on installing the VER2CWBIOS.bin file.
I do not want to "scrap" my new board.
Can someone please write a step by step on installing the ver2cwbios.bin file or pm me with information.
Thanks
Please help

the best info you will get on this is at cw's support forums. there seems to be only a few of us here with indepth experience with the cw lmc. i have never done what you are asking, so unless someone else chimes in your best bet is at the support forum.

I have checked that forum and I did not find info on installing bios because they want you to buy the new board from them at twice the price with the bios on it and I did not have the finances to do that right now.
The mother board on my CW3000HD has something going bad that causes it not to boot some times and it gives me an error after running windows XP for just a few moments.
I decided to buy the CW3000 rev2/CW4000 board to replace my CW3000 rev1 at a lower cost then sending in my CW3000 for repairs.
I have the CW4000 bios and loader I am just not sure how to use the loader and the file properly and I don't want to destroy my new board.
mrtech thanks for the info I would rather that this information helps others along the way.
thanks again

Satcandy - I have the CW4000 but really haven't used it that much. Idemo will probably be able to help you. He will pop in here sooner or later.
Sorry for not being able to help in this matter.

I sent idemo a PM.
He is pretty helpful.
You'll just have to check back later.
Good Luck!

Hi,
Sorry to take so long, but I've been out of town for a few days.
You can't simply load a "new" bios onto your new motherboard....at least not the CW 4000 bios. It is a propietary bios for linux to work with the CW remote and their operating system.
If you have your old board you can take the old bios chip out and install it in your new one, but short of that you'll have to rely on CW to load the bios. I have had several done. Having this bios as it is, is CWs only protection that everyone and his uncle doesn't go out and build their own CW4000 although if you look at parts prices and add them all up CW is not making a whole lot of money on any of the parts. They order them in bulk from NewEgg just as you or I would and don't mark them up at all. The make their money from the remote, remote receiver and, of course, the propietary bios. It's not a whole lot though. I've seen their pricing and what they pay to make a unit. It can't be done much cheaper than what they sell them for.
Back to your problem..... I would contact them directly and explain your situation. I think you'll find them to be very cooperative and helpfull. I'm sure they can help you out and if they charge you anything it won't be much.
Hope this helps!
Sorry you don't have the M2NPV-VM motherboard..... I do have a bios chip out of one of those already programmed.
Idemo

Scratch that... Things have changed. I just spoke with my friend at CW and they do now allow you to load your own bios and it is posted on the official site.
Use Award Flash and create a bootable drive from a USB stick with the awdflash exe program on it as well as the bios bin file. Boot to the usb stick and run the program. Load the bios as you would with any other MB. It only takes a few moments to do the whole operation.
Cheers!

Thanks for coming to the aid idemo.
Satcandy be very careful when loading a bios file.
You can totally corrupt your motherboard if you don't follow the given directions.
Good Luck!
