question about 1 sat line in, to splitting into 2 recievers
I tried splitting my sat connection in from the line in to the house into 2 lines trying to feed 2 recievers. Obviously I am doing something wrong, I couldnt get a signal to the one I have upstairs.
Here's the set up
I had 2 sats, one getting 110 and 119. The other getting 91. Both sats are going into a switch outsidee on the roof, coming into the house only using 1 cable. Inside I tried to split that line with a basic RCA digital splitter, and the main tv still got a signal no problem, but I never got a singal on the other TV. I am also using just regular R6 or R59 cable.
Thanks

What receivers are you trying to run the signal to? (DN & FTA ?)
What type of LNB are you using?
You don't use the RCA splitter for sat signals....

the recievers are a 250sm and a 2500a (soon to be a 2700)....
The lnb I am not sure they were part of an exhisting directtv setup, they are dual lnbs on the 110 and 199 sat and single on hte 91.
They guys at the local electronics store told me about the RCA splitter, it's basically like a A/B splitter, but no switch from A to B.

it would be easier to use two diseqc switches. run two lines off of each lnb one to each diseqc. the out on the diseqc would go to each reciever.

U cannot use a normal cable splitter to split satellite signal.. not the same as cable.. different frequencies.. as already suggested the cheapest way to go, is with 2 seperate lines from each sat.. to 2 disecC switches.. keep us posted.. good luck. txsgent
