wouldnt it be easier to view if new posts in the toolbar was NEW POSTS all in capital letters. it would stick out over the others, as this is the most important daily reading for everyone. just a suggestion.

We as admins and moderators look for new posts more than forum members.
They usually look for different sections that pertain to their immediate needs.
However -Your answer could be a definite yes.
BTW: only the webmaster has access to modify that field and that would be Tom the owner.
