You must be moving from the coolsat. The answer is no you don't need to load the factory file first. Just upload the newest release. You will also have to hit f1 and 000 to enable the patch. This box will not tell you that it is auto rolling so just let it sit there for about 15 minutes.

the 700 is the same as the cw800 without the PVR...so you would do all the same thing you would do for the 700as the 800...so go to the read me and you will find out all your questions..just forget about the PVR part...great receiver

All channels just went down as I was trying to install my new 7000. I got the latest file loaded via usb, but can't seem to find any signal strength / or B3V Nimiq 91. I thought there was more to it, but from this post, you say just load and go?
I was previously running a Captain 8000HD, so I know all coming in is good.
Help...and thanks in advance.

Thanks.
When I hit "F1", I get nothing about "patches". What is that? What confuses me is that I see no Sat's to scan. Is this normal? One of the tutorials I read made this much more work. I guess that's why I'm asking if it's this simple. I'll try again tonight and post my results.
Here is the tutorial I had read.
1. Download latest bin file from satnow forums..
2. Load Unziped file to your USB memory stick...
3. Insert USB stick into the CW700 or 800...
4. On your TV you should see displayed “USB Ready”
5. There are 2 ways to navigate to the update screen. On your remote, you can either...
press Menu > USB or simply press the USB button on the remote..
6. You should see the contents of your USB memory stick on the right hand side of your screen...
7. Use the arrow keys on the remote to select the desired bin file....
8. Press OK. Answer yes to “Update the software database”
9. You should now see a countdown on your front panel LED
10.When update finishes, answer yes to “Reboot receiver now?” You can now remove the USB stick....
11. If this is not your first software update, then you need only do steps 1-10....
12. If this is the initial software update, do a factory default (menu > installation > Factory default > no > yes)
13. Enter language settings, set time (for Eastern Standard Time, select -5 hours) and scan channels. (see next section)
14. Do your settings (menu > system settings > system > channel No. > select SID, auto TP to on, & long channel names to on) (menu > system settings > osd > autoroll to on)
15. Exit completely until you are back at T.V. displaying scrambled channel.
16. Now enable patch (press F1 then 000) you should see (“patch enable” on t.v screen)
17.Wait for keys to roll and watch T.V

You may try the newest bin file. I believe there's one that was uploaded to fix the problem with the f1 and 000 to enable patch.

I succesfully loaded file V1.61 prior to posting. It seems to have accepted the file.
I will take the advice of reading up on the 800 as well.

Thanks for the help so far. I don't believe I have a cable problem to my dish, but I'll try and confirm that.
I loaded the latest, rebooted, then Menu, Installation, Antenna. When I try to select the satellite...there aren't any options, and under Transponder it says no TP? And on the front of my receiver, it sayd "E007"

No more "E007" on the receiver. I was successful in doing F1 then 000.
I still have no "TP"....and there still doesn't seem to be any satellites there.
HELP!!!!
