New Satellite Capacity for DISH
An upcoming SES satellite launch will provide new capacity for the nation's No. 2 satellite TV company.
SES said the AMC-14 satellite is scheduled for a March launch from Kazakhstan. EchoStar is contracting the entire payload of the satellite to support its operations and services in North America, the satellite services company said.
As part of the push, EchoStar will discontinue its interim use of the AMC-2 satellite in late February, SES said.
After that, the AMC-2 satellite will be co-located with the AMC-4 satellite at 101 degrees West. That satellite, SES said, will strengthen the company's service offering within its North American footprint and enable the activation of transponders serving South America.
