Default Warning for all About CoolSat Clones

C&P

It has been officially stated that if anyone buys a CoolSat 4000, 5000, 6000, 8000 now they are buying clones only as All originals are out of stock.
Now the current line is CoolSats 6100, 7000,8100

All dealers that carry 100% legitimate products have said all stock piles of the above mentioned boxes have been depleted.

So all buyers beware if anyone, site, eBay or other resources that try to sell you any CoolSat 4000, 5000, 6000, 8000 they are trying to sell you a 100% cloned product that later on will end up not working.

Buyer Beware. Boss

I have confirmed that current sponsors Do still have some original CoolSats left and they will inform me when they are depleted.

**** Always Buy from trusted sellers ****

Here is a copy of the official letter sent out.

To All Coolsat Dealers,

After speaking with many dealers and in order to address the current clone problem on the internet we will not be honoring any warranty for Coolsat 6000 from end-user purchase dates after October 31st 2007. Warranties on Coolsat 6000 and other models are voided as follows:

Coolsat 4000 Purchase Date after February 2006
Coolsat 5000 Purchase Date after April 2007
Coolsat 6000 Purchase Date after September 2007

Starting November 2007, all dealers must cease selling Coolsat 4000, 5000 and 6000 on the internet. Coolsat RMA department do have ways of detecting clone units by tracking Serial Numbers and other methods.
Clone receivers are a problem and we kindly ask for your help and cooperation.

Hi Grasshopper, what does this mean as far as the support for the cs5000 and cs6000? I have had no problems with updating and using my coolsats but do you think I will need to replace my receivers soon. Like I've said in past posts to others these 2 receivers owe me nothing even though I've only been in the hobby for 5 or 6 months.

Have a read in this thread; http://www.ftaconcept.com/showthread.php?t=16127

This is a known issue that the coders need to address.

To be honest, this has nothing to do with the new R-link.. the 3rd party is using to make the Coolsats work again... totally different group.. from the NorwGroup and the clone killer software, they were trying to shutdown.. cloned coolsat receivers.. that were cutting into their profit line... .. since they do not care if the receiver is a clone or not..... they only want you to purchase the R-Link.. and use the software they provide... it should work on.. legit and clone receivers both... is my understanding of it... hope that helps.. good luck... txsgent

Well if you have copies of the instructions, you can post them here and give the proper credit and no live links.

there are no instructions ,its a couple of posts by jvvh Stuff is all greek to me

If you read the source code it will be a lot clearer than in machine code. Search the source for terms like "bomb" and "checksum". You still see the 0x2d test of a "standard" checksum--you also could see some ascii phrases in the bin about "I die" or "2nd checksum". You will have to learn how to disassemble the conexant code with IDA Pro (there is an IDC to help a little and there was some old script to search out the bomb and do a defeat).

The 5000 used a simpler set of bombs than the 4000, but you still have to deal with the checksums and that is a lot harder with the conexant code than the st20 stuff for the 4000.

All this is based only on the old bins and not on anything that might be used with a dongle--haven't looked at any of those bins.

second

I recently looked at the r-link file for the cs5k dated mid Nov '09, I did find that the code had the primary and 2nd CRC tests (these can be recreated but editing the bin to remove the .par part of the file from "NDF" to "END" at the end of the file and by overwriting with FFs over the 0x40 bytes of the scrambled checksum, version number and checksum at the end of the resultant file--you might have to overwirte with 00s the boot checked sum at the 8th byte of the bin, but I haven't checked this, and then use the relesse jprogram to regenerate the checksums, insert the version number and re-compress to lh5 stb format). I found that the code for the debug output enable and tivo insert all were pretty much as they were witht he 1.83 tivo mod script.

I'm attaching the modified tivo insert and rest fo the script including checksum defeats for that r-link file. This is not box tested script, I just checked the disassembled file for the defeats and that the branch and addresses used were correct for the file I downloaded to computer. You will see a number of elements of the XVI32 script rem out as they were not needed

Thought remember reading on the r-link home site files were tested on a clone receiver to no ill affects.Thought also was stated in last fixes for 5000 & 6000 before Norw went bye-bye(what r-link file is made from) someone(like JVVH) looked at them and there was no clone kill in them after support was brought back.

h_d you may be correct because, I think that I read the same thing.
The R-link group wouldn't really be negatively affected by supporting the Coolsat Clones.
They actually would benefit from more R-link sales that way.
