Default It's Solar Conjunction Time!!!

Its getting close to that time of year again and we should all be aware that its sun fade time again, toward the end of February and early March the sun will be behind some of the satellites we watch, this will cause the satellite signal to drop out for up to 10 to 15 minuets at a time.

It's Solar Conjunction Time!!! In the fall and in the spring the sun appears to travel behind the satellites blinding our dishes for up to 15 minutes. For the next few weeks, your channels may go out during the day.

Twice a year, typically in March and October, the sun, satellite, and your dish will be in perfect alignment. On those days, the sun's energy will overload the LNB and cause signal loss for a few minutes.

Is this the same thing they used to call sun spots? It sounds like the the same thing. The sun spots would cause a fading out proccess.

speaking of the Sun.....did you know that the Moon is 400 times as small as the Sun? But because the Sun is 400 times as far away as the Moon from us we see them as both being the same size in the Sky That is the reason why when there is a Solar Eclipse the Moon covers the Sun perfectly and we see that spectacular event somewhere on our Planet around 8 times every decade.........Not a co ink e dink (coincidence)

Nope, nothing to do with sun spots. Suns spots vary in intensity on an 11 year (or so) cycle and do affect short wave transmissions.
