Default Acutrac III Plus upgrade

I have the Acutrac III Plus meter which I had for many years. The manual says that the firmware is upgradable. I see a port-hole on the top of the meter as it says this is where you plug in the cable for a future updates, but no cable ever came with the unit and I don't know what type of cable it uses or how to update it. I believe that this particular meter has been discontinued though.

Have you tried to contact the manufacturer? If they're still around you'd get the best info from them.

I found an email contact on their website - Acutrac.tv
I see a data port on the top of the meter what looks like to be a 3.5mm jack, not sure how this works to upgrade it though. The firmware version I have is: .002.02, but the videos I've seen have ver: .002.07
I'll wait for a response from them and go from there. This meter is specifically designed to align the DirecTV slimline-5 and also DishPro with the latest firmware which I do not have.

I'm not familiar with that meter but as long as they are still around you should be able to get the correct cable & latest upgrade easily enough.

I contacted MeterSupport@perfect-10.tv and they sent a zip file with instructions, the latest firmware hex file, and the loader program with baud rate setting. It says to use a serial female DB-9 to a 3.5 mm plug to connect the PC to the meter. If I wasn't able to update it, I would've had to have spent another $250 for another meter. A lot of the installers now use another meter to replace this one, it is the SATLOOK LITE meter. It's about in the same price range.
