Any news on when the coders are going to release fixes for this box?

I know it is new, but I just sold my VS9kHD , thinking about getting one of these?

I've been trying to find out information on that receiver but I have conflicting information so I didn't want to post it. Take it as a rumor since I don't have proof that I am correct. Some have said that the bin for the CW3000HD will be the same as the CW4000. I have not yet confirmed that information but as soon as I know, I will post it here.

I heard that same thing, and seeing how it is linux, it is very possible that they are "close enough"

OK first thing first.

I accidentally stumbled upon this site in search of a different site, but anyhow. I am a Super Mod at a couple of sites and I am very familiar with CW units dating back to the first.

Anyhow, The cw4000 is similar to the V2 cw3000 that came out however the differences are.

Built in 8psk tuner - thats right built in
faster processor - amd athlon 64 x2 4600+ (instead of the 4200)
Built in HDMI - (same as version 2 but differ from V1 3000)
More compact

All the same features of the 3000, (dvd burner and PVR, IE and capable of dual booting XP) running same version and software as the 3000 (fix should be identical from what I know) but the design is much more compact. The support will be the same and for the same price 475 bux a piece it makes more sense to get a 4000 with built in 8psk tuner!

Reason for the 4000 ......... the motherboard manufactures of the 3000 have discontinued the model of m/b ergo the birth of the 4000. Cheaper processors = the upgrade to the 4600 and it still only comes with 1 gig of ram so I suggest upgrading that to about 4 gigs if you do get one. Hope my insights help out!

FYI ... BEST FTA RECIEVER ON THE MARKET

I just ordered one and my first question is what will more RAM do for ya? Is it the same RAM in a PC? And if I have a 800 pointed at DN, can I just hook up the 4000, scan and watch? Will it pick up all channels offered or just the HD ones?

actually, in Linux, 512mb ram is more than enough, so 4gb doesn't change a thing
