Captive Works Serial Number Security Measure

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

!!! WARNING !!! CAUTION !!! ATTENTION !!!

Captive Works 3rd party files now have a new serial number feature to defeat the war on clones.

All new bins for the CW-650, CW-700, and CW-800 (v1.93) have a new serial feature.

1.93 IS A MUST LOAD BIN! IT CANNOT BE SKIPPED! BUT, you CAN skip v1.92 and load v1.93 if you have NOT already loaded v1.92. The v1.92 bin had some bugs.

After the loading of this new bin, the receiver will reboot and you will be prompted for a serial number.

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!

You can find your serial number on the bottom of the receiver starting with CWS----------. It could be a 9, or 10 digit number (do not worry if it's only 9 digits). You will be prompted to enter this serial number twice - to confirm (no mistakes).

THIS IS VERY IMPOTANT YOU HAVE THIS CORRECT!

The serial number on the bottom of the receiver must match what you are inputting - this will be stored in the SECURITY CHIP for future releases.

The bin will allow you to input any serial number you wish, BUT DO NOT BE FOOLISH - ENTER YOUR REAL SERIAL NUMBER OR FUTURE RELEASES WILL FAIL TO FUNCTION!

THIS IS A MUST-LOAD BIN!
If you do not load this bin, your receiver will not accept future releases.

------------------------------------------------------------

Full instructions for loading the file:

Basically, loading these new files is the same procedure as before.

1) Load new file to box either with USB or Serial cable (same as you would with any release).

2) After the receiver reboots, it will ask you to input serial number. You can locate your serial number on the bottom of your receiver starting with CWS----------. You will need to enter only the 9 or 10 digit numerical number of the serial number. If serial is 9 digits long then only put 9 digits.

3.You will be asked to input serial number a second time to verify that you did not make a mistake. If you input same both times it will now reboot your box and you will be ready to watch TV.

If you do not input the serial number for your receiver, your receiver will fail to function with future releases. This is a MUST LOAD bin. You must load this bin before loading any future releases.

latest news about CW 192 & 193 bins

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Attention Read this !!!!!!!! Attention read this

To all those who have not upgrade to either Bin 1.92 or 1.93 you will not be able to use future releases until you do. I know many say if it isn’t broke why fix it and refuse to load current file. If you do not load one of these 2 files then you will not be able to update on next ECM until you do. If you notice the file size for these 2 files are larger than normal. There is information contained in these 2 files that will not be there on future releases and so you will not be able to use future files. The structure of the memory has been moved around and without one of these 2 files loaded in the box future files will not work for you. As long as the file size is larger you can load that file only. But as soon as you see the file size go back to normal release sizes then you will need to have converted to the new file structure. Think of it like a New Factory file (even though it is not a factory file).

Common questions asked:
1. Were do I find serial number?
Answer: Look under your receiver and you should find a sticker with your personal serial number.
2. How do I enter letters in when it asks for serial number?
Answer: You do not enter letters only the numbers and should be 9 or 10 digits long.
3. Do I always have to enter serial number on future files?
Answer: NO, you will only be ask to do this the first time you load 1.92 or 1.93. If you entered it on 1.92 then load 1.93 it will not ask you again.
4. Why do they want to know serial number now?
Answer: This was answered in the release notes. Security reasons.

You guys keep your eyes open.
You know how it is when the members don't read the new posts.
They'll be asking be asking what happened in no time once a new file is posted.

3. Do I always have to enter serial number on future files?
Answer: NO, you will only be ask to do this the first time you load 1.92 or 1.93. If you entered it on 1.92 then load 1.93 it will not ask you again.

is it ok if it asks you for it both times? cause it asked me both times(on v1.92 and 1.93) im not sure if it asked me for it when i installed v.1.91.

I have also heard when you insert your usb hit fave and save your channel list to the flashdrive and then load 1.93. because when you load 1.93 this info will be gone and you will have to rescan if not. after the reciever reboots just hit fave and load channel list.

Deathracer. From what I'm reading, you shouldn't have to input the serial number both times. It says if asks you while loading 1.92, then it shouldn't ask you the next time you load the next file. Not to sure about the 1.91 either, but you've passed that file. Let us know if it keeps asking you with future releases.
