I am new to fta and I ordered a dn pro 500 dish and I am trying to find a receiver but i was wondering about what i need to do to grab the games? Do i need to have a special recivier or do anything special to the receiver or is it as simple as pointing the dish and going to the channel of the game i am looking for?

You need to get satellites 110 and 119. Most of the local channels are carried on 110. You will get most of the games but some times you won't. Today for example I was able to get 6 out of the 8 games.

Any receiver will do, as long as your pointed at DN. And as ufc stated you'll receive most games.

It depends on what type of lnbs came with the dish and if you are going to run more than one receiver. If it is intended to work with one receiver and with 110 and 119 you don't need a multy switch.

I got a DISH PRO TWIN LNBF, does the box have dual inputs on it or just 1?

I take it that you have 2 DP Twin LNB's if you got the DN500 dish setup.
Go to the LNB section, look over the LNBs and then let us know exactly what you have.
Is it a legacy or does it have an internal switch. There is no guessing allowed.

If what you are trying to get is the New England Patriots, they almost always are broadcasted. Take a look at this two links and they will tell you the channel line up for 110 and 119.

If you find that channel there and it is spot beamed and if you are more than 300 miles away from New England you won't be able to get it.

i was trying to see if i could get the red sox games for next year on this sat setup, the red sox games are always on nesn. I am not too worried about getting pats games I am guessing they are always available on this setup.

Did you look at the links I gave you? Did you find the channel there? If so does it say spot beamed? If it is spot beamed and you live more than 300 miles away then you won't be able to get it. BTW satellite 91W has the MLB package so you can get all of the games there. 91W also has the nfl Sunday ticket but there's not any fta box out there that has been able to open those channels this year.

yeah i saw it in there and it is not spot beamed
[LyngSat Logo] NESN [LyngSat Address] Nagravision 2
Nagravision 3
434 4642 4643 E J Hotsenpiller
030808

so i should be able to just punch in that channel into my box and get this station? oh it was on 119.

Yeap if your dish is pointed correctly you should be able to put in the channel number and it will come in.

Everything you see on those two links works. The ones that are spot beamed only those specific locations can get.
