First I would like to thank the people that allowed me to test this great box. You know who you are. Thank you once again. The first thing that I did as soon as I got the box was open it and made sure that everything was there. It came with a diseqc switch, rca cables, null modem cable, remote and user manual. I then went ahead and loaded the third party bin for testing purposes only. SV360Elite_V0145P_CharlieBlackout_FIXED080208. The bin files for these receiver are bigger in size, about 2 megs when unzipped. The SV hardware is as follows.

* 2 Tuners & Blind Scan Supported
* 3 x USB 2.0 Port for external HDD & USB memory stick
* Dual Recording & Playback simultaneously using External HDD
* Time-Shifting supported using External HDD
* Recording capacity depending external HDD size
* Powerful trick mode supported using external HDD
* Fully MPEG-2 & DVB-S Supported
* S/PDIF for Digital Audio/Dolby AC-3 bitstream output
* 3 RCA components output: Y, Pb, Pr
* USAL Supported
* 16 Bit colors & user friendly GUI for easy control
* Fast booting & scan speed
* Signal & multi-satellite auto scan
* Manual scan supported
* Highly speedy channel changing time: < 1 sec.
* 6,000 channels memory capacity for TV & Radio programs
* 8 favorite channel list group programmable
* Channel sorting by FTA, CAS, Satellite, Alphabetic & Network
* PIG (Picture-in-Graphic) available
* S/W downloading with serial port/ USB 2.0 port
* Zoom in-out function for watching screen
* Various aspect ratio with 4:3, Letter Box, Full Screen & 16:9
* Background graphic display for radio program channels
* Parental lock function using master PIN code
* 20 steps volume control
* Useful RCU key-functions for channel find, edit and signal strength display
* Picture-in-Picture (PIP) supported
* Music & Photo file supported

The setup is a little bit different since it has dual tuners and you have more options. I have 4 satellites so I added them all and scanned them. It quickly found all the channels. I put in all of my settings for the other tuner and it worked great. The guide it's very cool looking and does work pretty good. The reminder option is a little bit different than what I am used to but it does work. I also tested the PIP feature and this is the first receiver that I have found where that feature actually does work. I don't have a hard drive to test the recording feature but from the posts that I have read it works pretty well. Setting up the time zone is easier than any other box I have and works well. I used RCA connections to work with a 52" RCA widescreen tv and the picture quality is amazing. This box replaced the one had on that tv and wow!!!! the picture quality is so much better. The remote actually controls my tv with code 161 as this is only the second receiver I have found that works. I give this receiver a 9 out of 10 as all of its features work. The receiver looks really cool with the Sonicview blue led and does not even get warm when running. As T.O. always says it "getcha popcorn ready".

I edited the post to add this.

I bought an Iomega 360 gig USB 2.0 external hard drive to test it out. I used my computer with windows XP pro and formatted the hard drive with fat32. I used the following command to do it. "format G: /FS:fat32 /V:SV360ELITE /Q". It only took a few minutes to get it formatted. I connected it to the back of the receiver and it quickly found it. I then tested the recording feature and it worked. It used up 500 Megs for 27 minutes of recordings. I then tested the reminder and to set up recordings in the future and it also worked and stopped on its own. I tested the time shift feature and it also worked wonderfully.

None of the reviews include the PVR functions because of the hard drive. The main reason to buy a PVR vs just a regular receiver is the recording. If any one has sucessfully set up one of these for recording could you please share how you did it.

I had do trouble creating a video. I did have issues trying to do a fast forward.
I also haven't created and DVDs with the video yet.

I haven't had much more experience with the receiver except for experimenting with it using 2 motor setups.

I use my Elite to record all the time, it seems to do much better with Ext2 than Fat32 on the HD though, all though the FF/RW function gets a little touchy , if you switch from FF to RW too fast it jumps around .. I have copied files off and played them on my computer but not created a DVD yet ..
