DIRECTV continued its high-definition expansion this week by adding 11 new HD channels to the satcaster's lineup. Included within the latest channel additions are six national HD channels and five HD regional sports networks.
According to the company, the following national high definition channels have been added to DIRECTV's channel lineup: Bravo (channel 273); Cinemax East (channel 512); Cinemax West (channel 514); HBO West (channel 504); SciFi Channel (channel 244); and USA Network (channel 242).
In addition to the national HDs, the following five high definition regional sports networks have been added to DIRECTV's channel lineup: Comcast SportsNet Chicago HD (channel 640); Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic HD (channel 629); New England Sports Network/NESN HD (channel 623); SportsNet New York HD (channel 625) and YES HD (channel 622).
The latest high-def expansion is part of the company's promise to offer 70 HD channels by the end of this month and up to 100 HDs by the end of the year. The addition of the six national HD channels brings DIRECTV's total to 37 national HDs.
