So I called Conaxsat tech support last night and explained my "wrong file" error message to them. They told me that there is in fact a bug in their factory firmware and it is in the process of being fixed. No ETA unfortunately.

They told me the issue occurs when movies are recorded over 2 GB. Even if the file being played back is less than 2 gigs it will not work when a file over 2 gigs is present on the drive. I backed up all my movies on my computer then just copied the movies and shows under 2 gigs back on to my CNX drive and VIOLA it works!!!!

Just wanted to share this for those who are having the same problem I had.

Just curious , if this reciever uses fat32 for its drive format ??

to my knowledge there is a 2gig file size limitation on the fat32 file system, so if given the option to use something else like ext2 might avoid this issue ....

Hope that might help ...

I was wrong on that it is a 4 gig limit ...

From the M$ site ..
"You cannot create a file larger than (2^32)-1 bytes (this is one byte less than 4 GB) on a FAT32 partition."

and that is for windows XP it may be different on emulated systems so not sure ....

so no help there

the drive is formatted in fat32. To my knowledge it is the only format the CNX recognizes.
