I find this to be a "personal" question it is like asking what kind of car is the best! really everything is personal prefrence!

The link by XRange is little outdated. Is there a more recent link?
IMHO, if you use external harddrive to record, having 2 USB ports are very handy. VS 9k has 2 USB ports, but VS8k only has one. Again, I agree it is your personal preference.
