View Full Version : Help! No Channel Names after re-setup

Hi,

I'm new at this and not quite sure what is going on. Please help.

My CS8000 was set up by the shop where I bought it when it last needed a new .bin file, but all my HD channels were missing. So I changed the satellite settings in accordance with the Setup Bible, and did a manual rescan. That did not work, so I did a factory reset, set up the satellites again, and then did an autoscan. This worked perfectly, except that I now have no channel names or episode guide!!! I only have the channel numbers.

I thought I might need the new binary, so I followed the instructions for loading the newest binary file (11435F). I first loaded Clear_sw(HD) and then CS8000-1192A.SGN as per the instructions, followed by CS8000-11435F.sgn. The receiver now tells me I have the correct firmware. Unfortunately, I still do not have the channel names or episode guide info! Worst still, I now have no reception from the satellite?!

I changed the satellite settings again, so that the switch type now says DiSEqC rather than none, and option now says 1 instead of none. This gives me satellite signal (green) again, but no blue signal.

I decided maybe I screwed up the keys, so I used KeyUpdate to download the latest BEV keys, and saved them to the coolsat.key file. Then I used the coolsat key updater to upload the keys. I checked them using the manual entry method (8282 at advanced options, go to nagravision), and they now read as the latest keys available through keyupdate, green marked as of 28 may 2008. I then made sure autoroll is on.

I have now been waiting at a no signal screen for 15 minutes, with no luck. The episode guide still only has channel numbers (listed as "0800 CH 800", for example) and no episode guide. The screen says "No Signal".

Can anyone tell me where I went wrong, and how I can fix this? I am really confused, and about ready to throw the coolsat off the nearest cliff.

Please?

Thanks for the welcome, and those are good questions.

I'm posting for my father (and the dish is at his place) so I am going from memory.

The dish is a bell expressvu dish (the standard one, not this new tiny one I've seen a few times), but I don't know what the LNB is: the people he bought it from set it up and aimed the dish. I don't know what switch is being used, either... I'm not even sure how to find out!

Everything worked perfectly in the beginning. But that was about a year ago. I installed new keys for him a couple of times, and then the dish went down and the forums I read said that there were no new codes, so the receiver sat unused for about 4 months before he took it back to the store where he bought it to ask them about it. He finally did go back two weeks ago, and they got it working, but without the HD channels (nothing in the 800 range). Then the picture stopped, and he called me, and I got totally confused trying to fix it! So, I know that the dish is aimed in the right place, I know that the LNBs do pick up the HD content (they used to, anyway), and I know that the episode guide was working and the channel names were being displayed before I started to "fix" it.

If you know how I can find the LNB types and the switch type, I will post those...

Thanks!

Thanks Liveupdate. I finally had time to redo everything, and I got it working. I had to look at a friend's switch settings though, as ours are different than those in the bible. Now the only problem is the "downloading" or "no signal" every few minutes... hopefully a new file will be out soon.

train......it has been doing this for the last week or so on BEV. Hopefully a new fix will come out soon . So for now those of us that watch programming on Nimiq 1 and 2 are waiting patiently to correct this.
