First I have to give major thumbs up to Sonicview so far on their SV-360 Line. The SV-360 Elite and Premier are just what one would expect from SV. Let’s start with the SV-360 Elite.

SV-360 Elite:
Its dual tuner functionality works pretty much flawlessly and isn’t expected otherwise with its following of the SV-1000 Dual Tuner PVR. The Only issue in that area I find needing improvement is easier use of choosing tuner without having to use the PIP function. I’m sure it will come as the unit matures as many other improvements will as well. Its PIP ability sure is a nice feature especially for the sport fanatic. The Timeshift feature is also impressive with its ability to Pause or REW Live TV however setting this to Automatic does make channel change speeds a little slower due to the need to buffer to the HDD but isn’t that big of a deal for the convenience of True Timeshifting. Recording and scheduled Recording of any channel on any given sat is a must for any true PVR user and the SV-360 does this with out a hitch.

Cyphris rates the SV-360 Elite an 8 out of 10

SV-360 Premier:
The Premier definitely is the successor to the SV-4000 with additional functionality such as PVR ability and front and rear ports makes this a great addition to any ones collection. I am very impressed with its abilities in its very early stage and can only see this progressing to be one of SV best sellers. If you have used a SV product this will be no different in its simple yet effective GUI interface. If your thinking of a SV unit this is definitely the one to start with if you are not sure if you need PVR functions or not.

Cyphris rates the SV-360 Premier a 9 out of 10

Along with giving Sonicview a thumbs up with the design and overall feature possibilities to these two great new products. I have to give two thumbs up to the SV Coding Team for working quickly to bring these units closer from Beta though one would not know they are in beta with their minimal issues, Even with the addition of 2 more new units to code for the big providers they are managing to keep the files coming in adequate speed. These PVR capable receivers do make SV as PVR king. I do recommend looking into HDD compatibility as there are many known External USB HDD that will not function 100% correctly with any FTA PVR.

Good info. the only thing their prices are all over the place. The cheapest i have found is $170.00 with free shipping to $200.00 for a sv360 Elite so i guess shop around you could get a good deal. The CNX trio came out for $260.00 and now a year later they are still holding their value. I do love both of them... Just my 2C.

Do you know what file type the recorded programs are saved in? I'm planning to migrate from CoolSat 7000 and wondering if it will be a straight plug and play with my previously recorded .ts file programs.
