Could anything have spilt on it? If so let it dry out for awhile before you replace the battiers

read this..
Here's what you may find on the CW website:
Problems with the remote control:
# 1 - If your remote is not working properly by pressing a button you do not get the expected result.
Replace the batteries when the batteries are too weak signals from the remote are too low and are misinterpreted by the CW-3000HD making sure that you could get a random behavior or you might be obliged to be closer to the CW-3000HD so that the remote could operate normally.
# 2 - If your remote does that when you are just a few feet from your CW-3000HD and you replaced the batteries, please follow this procedure:
During the assembly at the maufactory for the first CW-3000HD, there are a few where the sensor signals infra red LED (receiver) from the remote were misguided. Simply remove the lid of CW-3000HD (pulling on each side but very gently with your two hands).
You will find the printed circuit board on which the "receiver" was installed on the right side.
It is not recommended, nor necessary to unplug the cable from the circuit board, if you withdrew, please assured to reconnect correctly as you could burn some components of printed circuit board (replacement cost of this trip with $ 20 Vendor CaptiveWorks (RMA). If you disconnected the cable and you're not sure how to reconnect see # 4 - below. Unscrew the printed circuit board by removing the two screws that hold in place and adjust the receiver (LED) in the middle of the window (plexiglas dark amber on the lid that you withdrew at the beginning) through which the infrared signals are received. Line up the wholes and make your tests .
In some cases, people were unable to really align the receiver placing two screws, because the receiver remains misaligned by putting back the two screws, in this case, you just use the top screw just be sure to align the receiver and everything should work well together.
# 3 - If only some buttons on your remote control are not functioning properly.
You must in this situation close completely (shutdown) CW-3000HD to reset the circuit's internal CW-3000HD, which is used to communicate with the remote control, a "reboot" is not sufficient since the internal circuit's of the CW-3000HD remains powered. The operating system prior to version 1.0.1.9 had this problem is repetition, if you use this version, you need to update your CW-3000HD (see procedure how to update).
# 4-Replugging the printed circuit board, of the receiver (LED) internaly in the CW-3000HD

Same thing happened to me. Unplug the machine and wait 5 min. and plug back in. Worked for me.
