can you use an external hard drive to record with the cnx mini,if so how do you connect it and use it?

The Conaxsat CNX MINI has the same hardware as the CNX Duo except no PVR function. It works faster because the software does not include the PVR functionality.

There has been a Software upgrade to the Mini as of a few months ago that enables the Mini to record. You can schedule 2 timed recordings or you can manually record a show. I have one and am using a LaCie 500Gb drive and it works well. Make sure any drive you use is formatted in Fat32 and you disable the sleep function which many external drives come preset. It took a couple trys with different brands to get it to work. Smaller USB drives work well but I would stay away from the Mybooks and FreeAgent as those I had no luck with. It seems the cheaper brands work better or you could build your own external drive. The LaCie comes preformatted to fat32 out of the box and it is working well for me.
