could somebody explain what it is for i have the cs 8000 receiver and what kind of update does it do

It's device that turn your fta box in to iks box through the RS232 port.
It has to have software to make it work.

You'll need the N3 dongle for the CS8000, then the program sets up the receiver and dongle to work on a home network accessing the Internet for IKS.

With IKS your down time will be minimal but I would suggest reading about IKS before you make your decision. Go into the nFusion section and it will explain what IKS is and how it works.
