CG's Visionsat IV200 PVR plus Review
Here is ComputerGuru’s prelim review on the Visionsat IV200 PVR plus
Received the Visionsat IV 200 PVR Plus for testing. I must say was very impressed , unit was shipped and received to my door step in 2 days from L.A. to Florida. Well packaged and with the usuals, remote, battery and cable.
Proceeded to load IV 200 PVR Plus (http://www.ftaconcept.com/forumdisplay.php?f=75),on my USB stick, then I set the receiver up on the TV, hooked all cables and so forth, then turned unit on, then connected the USB stick and the latest bin came right up on the screen, click OK loaded the file and then rebooted as it rebooted I quickly removed the USB stick. I then did a factory reset to clear out everything before setting my dish settings, which I always recommend, and checked the system info to make sure the proper bin was loaded.
I then proceeded to navigate through the Menu screen to get familiar with the setup, I must say I was really impressed with the simplicity and ease of navigation. I then proceeded to set all my dish settings, which gives you 2 option either auto detect or manual, so I tried auto detect to test, and it did not pick up my 22K settings, so I then went back and did a manual setup. Really easy and simple, took minutes to setup and was ready for scanning, you also have options for scanning, you can do multiple scans or scan each bird individual. So I tested both ways with great success. And all cahnnels scanned in with no issues at all. I then set my options, you have both long and short name, renumber by SID, beep signal, auto CH/TP, local remapping, and A/R settings for Bev and Echo.
In the utilities tab you have data transfer, calendar, calculator, and games
In the channel list tab you have, channel list manager and channel list options. In the channel list manager you can edit all your settings, in the channel list options you have, channel list preview, channel list slide pop up, lock favorite pop up, and view only filtered list, each feature can be turned on or off.
Then you have a configuration tab setting, time setting, time manager, UI settings, parental control, language setting, and the A/V output setting. Also same as Coolsat to enter the key menu you click on 8282
OK now I was ready to test the receiver out, put it on channel 300 and HBO rolled in less than 2 minutes, I then proceeded to channel 1500 CNN on Bev and that took about 5 minutes to come in. Picture quality is very impressive and the ease to navigate with this receiver is very impressive, I believe any newbie can set this unit up in minutes with no issues. Another feature that works great is the Sat/Radio, I will do more testing in the next couple of days and report all extra findings that I have not reported as of yet. I will also post some pics for you all to see
My rating scale as 10 being the best and 1 being the worst
Flashing and setup 9
Screen displays 8.5
Remote control 7 (Very basic, Range not great)
Picture Quality 8
EPG 9 ( And was very impressed with how quick it populated without having to press the EPG extention button)
Overall rating on this receiver to date a whopping 8.75 (Very close to a 9 if it had a better remote)
